The Ukrainian national team became one of four teams who managed to get into the playoffs from third place in the group. Andriy Shevchenko’s team managed to reach the 1/8 finals of the Euro with three points and a negative goal difference, demonstrating an unconvincing game at the tournament. The national team played their first match at Euro quite well, but the team did not have enough strength to keep a draw and they lost 2:3 to the Netherlands. This was followed by a nervous game and a final 2:1 victory over North Macedonia. And in the final round against Austria, the early goal of opponents did not mobilize the Ukrainians, who desperately needed not to lose and became the only one in the fight. As a result, they ended in a 0:1 defeat and passage to the next stage thanks to the best additional indicators.
