The leader of Russian men’s tennis in the current rankings is participating in the Paris major on clay for the fourth time and has yet to achieve any success here. Daniil made his debut at this tournament in 2017, losing in the first round three times. Interestingly, Medvedev was consistently defeated by local players, namely Benjamin Bonzi, Lucas Pouille, and Pierre-Hugues Herbert, in the previous season. Currently, the Russian is ranked 5th in the world rankings and has been seeded 4th by the organizers of Roland Garros.
The leader of Hungarian men’s tennis is playing his seventh tournament at Roland Garros. Marton made his debut on the clay courts of Paris in 2014 and has not missed a competition since then. His best result was reaching the second round in 2018, where Fucsovics convincingly defeated the non-clay specialist, Vasek Pospisil of Canada (6-3, 6-3, 7-6). He then succumbed in four sets to British player Kyle Edmund (0-6, 6-1, 2-6, 3-6). Unfortunately, Fucsovics had a tough draw in the first round last season, facing the strong Argentine Diego Schwartzman. He put up a good fight but suffered a worthy five-set defeat (3-6, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2, 2-6).
