Tottenham had a good first half of the tournament this season, where they played in the group stage of the Conference League, but due to the coronavirus they could not get into the playoffs. KKR was caught off guard by DC’s excellent batting performance in the previous match. It was left to hunt 216 and was only able to manage 171 in response. The problem for KKR seems to be that there were two players in the XI who basically did nothing. Rasikh Salam threw an over the entire match and batted in 10th place. Ajinkya Rahana opened the batting, made 8 runs from 14 balls (all crucial power play deliveries) and folded. There is no way that KKR can continue to allow this to happen as it will increase the pressure on the rest of the team. Still, three wins from five games isn’t bad and they obviously did some things right. Umesh Yadav will be on the power play, Sunil Narine’s consistency, Pat Cummins and Andre Russel as the “X” factors and provide a strong batting lineup. Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane need to set things up better for the batters to follow, allowing Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana and Sam Billings to dominate through the middle. KKR has a stronger batting formation than SRH and we think they should be able to hit more sixes/fours in most games. That could be a betting market to explore in this game. KKR isn’t the most balanced lineup and has a few players who are out of shape. Overall though, we like how it’s played so far and think the best is yet to come for the team.
