MI's team selection was absolutely confusing in the previous game. They dropped Tim David and Tymal Mills, two of their biggest buys in the auction, for Jaydev Unadkat and Ramandeep Singh. This immediately made their bowling weaker and a true six-hitter was in the dressing room.

If MI stays with the same team selection then you should bet against it. The team that played the previous game was saved with the bat only because of Suryakumar Yadav and the bowling was just horrible.

We're writing this with the assumption that MI will pick their strongest XI and learn from their mistakes in the previous game.

That means a return of Tim David and Tymal Mills to the lineup in place of Ramandeep Singh and possibly Thampi/Unadkat.

When that happens MI's batting line-up will be pretty impressive, which includes Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Pollard and then David. This should allow MI to play fearlessly and attack from the start.

Bowling was an issue for MI in IPL 2022. Bumrah and Mills seemed to form a good partnership, but without Mills the opposition can just outplay Bumrah with relative certainty and attack the others.

M Ashwin, Jayadev Unadkat and Basil Thampi will not worry any of the other teams in this competition. It also forces Kieron Pollard to bowl more or less his full quota of overs in every match. Adding Tim David could also solve this problem as he rolls over his arm.

Punjab Kings

The Punjab Kings are a great T20 team put together with a very modern thought process. Your team is filled with stroke players throughout the lineup. Mayank Aggarwal and even Shikhar Dhawan have had a smooth IPL so far but they are both dangerous at their best. We also love that they have Bairstow and Livingstone at 3 and 4, which gives their center lineup a lot of momentum.

You can bet on Bairstow and Livingstone to score some runs in this match.

The middle/lower tier is also powerful, but it's not the most trusted. Jitesh Sharma, Odean Smith and Shahrukh Khan are capable of hitting the big shots but we don't want to see them face too many overs.

PBKS is a batting lineup that will hit close to 200 runs or bowl out for 130.

The bowling lineup features Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar and Arshdeep Singh as the leading players. This gives PBKS a few different options at all stages of the innings. Odean Smith, Liam Livingstone and possibly Vaibhav Arora will be the bowlers rounding out this lineup.
