The reigning champions are at it again tearing it up in the Indian Premier League. In fact, they are currently at the league summit with a staggering 12 points to their name. With archrivals Delhi Capitals hot on their tails, MI have to remain on top of their game till the end of the season. In action against KKR on the last matchday, MI laid blood and sweat bare on the pitch to pinch out a narrow victory by eight wickets. Quinton De Kock was the cream of the crop for MI, mustering a whopping 78 runs from 44 balls to lead his side to success. Not left to do all the dirty work, De Kock had sufficient support behind him with Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pantya delivering good performances. For all their strengths, MI bowlers never really got going as they remained pegged back to score a poor 148 runs. These ones will need to step up their game this weekend.
West Ham, oddly enough, played much better after David Moyes went to self-isolation due to coronavirus disease. In the League Cup the Hammers defeated Hull (5-1) and in the championship they beat Wolverhampton (4-0) and Leicester (3-0). The only setback during this time with West Ham happened in the League Cup, where the club lost to Everton (1-4). With David Moyes, West Ham lost 0-2 to Newcastle and 1-2 Arsenal at the start of the season but defeated Charlton 3-0 in the League Cup. During the pause for the national team matches, the Scotsman managed to recover, so he will again lead the Hammers from the coaching sidelines. Before the meeting with Tottenham, West Ham have three personnel losses, not counting the leaving of the club by Jack Wilshire, Felipe Anderson and Josh Cullen. Ryan Frederiks was injured, Vladimir Tsoufal fell ill with coronavirus in the national team, and his compatriot Tomas Soucek was quarantined, respectively.
