Royal Union
In the first half of the last century, the team was a Belgian football giant, but due to accumulated problems, although it didn’t disappear, it led a rather modest existence for decades. Fortunately, perhaps due to its impressive list of trophies, this project attracted British investors. As a result, “Les Unionistes” quickly returned to the Pro League (indeed, debuting in its current format after decades of obscurity) — only Club Brugge displaced them from first place on the final stretch. And then history repeated itself last season, with the “Blauw-Zwart” again denying them the championship.
Of course, they got their revenge in the summer by defeating Brugge away in the Super Cup (after also winning the cup trophy), but it was only a partial consolation. Nevertheless, under the guidance of Pokorny, they are starting yet another attempt to reach the main round of the Champions League. In the Czech Republic, they initially conceded three goals and only managed to respond with an own goal.

Slavia Prague
From 2017 to 2021, the club won the national championship four times, which can be said to have spoiled their fans. However, they were displaced from the title by their rivals, primarily Sparta, who won the last two editions of the local First League. Moreover, under Trpisovsky, they failed to score against Slovacko in the first round, finishing 0-0, giving an early advantage to their competitors.
For now, that undeniably crucial battle is on the back burner (as it is for their opponents as well) — the priority is attempting to return to the group stage of the Champions League. Like for the Belgians, this current round is the team’s first. At home, they took the lead with a first-half brace from Chory, added a goal from Dorley after the break, and only an own goal from Buzek slightly spoiled the mood.
