Georgia U21

The Georgian national team found themselves in the “group of death” alongside the Netherlands, Portugal, and Belgium. Few people gave Ramaz Swannadze’s team a chance before the start of the U21 Euro, but the Georgians immediately made a statement by defeating Portugal 2-0 in the first round. A 2-2 draw with Belgium gave them a good chance of qualifying for the playoffs, and in the third round, Georgia remained undefeated, holding the Netherlands to a 1-1 draw.

The Israeli national team also made a more sensational progress through the group stage. Guy Luzon’s team managed to earn only one point in their first matches against Germany (1-1) and England (0-2), but they managed to advance from the group. The decisive match was against the Czech Republic, where a single goal scored by the “blue and white” was enough to finish second behind the English team.
