The Spanish national team was considered the main favorite for the “gold” in the U21 European Championship and fully justified this status during the group stage. Santiago Denia’s team comfortably dealt with Romania (3-0) and Croatia (1-0) in the first two matches, securing their place in the knockout stage. A 2-2 draw against Ukraine helped “La Roja” finish in first place.

Switzerland U21

The Swiss national team was not considered a clear contender for the knockout stage in their group, as France and Italy were undoubtedly the favorites. In the opening match, Patrick Rahm’s team defeated Norway 2-1 and entered the race for a spot in the knockout stage. Despite losses to France (1-4) and Italy (2-3), the Swiss managed to advance to the knockout stage thanks to a higher number of goals scored.
