The selection for Euro 2020 was an easy walk for the Belgian national team. After the defeat of Belarus (8:0), the Belgians settled on the first line, being ahead of the Czech Republic by three points. Before the start of the European Championship, the red devils had two control matches, which ended with a 1:1 draw with Greece and a 1:0 victory over Croatia. The Finnish national team was not considered the favorite in the selection for Euro 2020 in their group. Markku Kanerva’s team ended up in the company of Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Armenia and Liechtenstein. However, contrary to all predictions, the “owls” finished second in the group with 18 points, being ahead of the third Greece by four points, Italy pulled ahead by 12 points. In the first round they managed to catch on to a 2:2 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina, while in the second round, Finland took points from Ukraine, having painted a 1:1 draw in Kiev. Thus, so far the Finns are the third in the group, but they are one point behind the coveted second line, having played less for a match than Ukraine.
