The Miami Heat started their summer camp with two games in Sacramento, where they first defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in a high-scoring match (107-90). They then couldn’t overcome the home team, the Sacramento Kings (83-95). The Kings have one of the strongest lineups this summer, so it was not surprising to see Miami struggling against them. However, the Heat proved their worth in their first game in Las Vegas, defeating the Boston Celtics (99-88). Orlando Robinson had a brilliant performance against the Celtics, scoring 36 points. The entire starting lineup of the Heat scored in double digits, with Nikola Jokic contributing 14 points, Drew Smith with 16 points, Drew Peterson with 13 points, and Jamal Kane with 10 points.
On the other hand, the Phoenix Suns can only be evaluated based on one game so far. In their debut game in Las Vegas, they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks (75-84). The Suns displayed weak offense and overall didn’t have the best performance, likely due to not fielding their strongest roster for the tournament. vOne standout player for the Suns in their game against the Bucks was Belgian big man Tumani Kamara, selected as the 52nd pick in the recent draft, who scored 20 points. Jordan Goodwin, one of the three non-rookies on the Suns’ roster for this tournament, contributed 12 points.
