Fight-winner prediction

Pick: Tatiana Suarez

Suarez is my pick, but this is not a straightforward wrestling mismatch. Jandiroba has defended takedowns well over her UFC career and has an established submission game. The question is whether Suarez can turn her entries into sustained control, rather than merely putting Jandiroba on the mat.

Suarez can wrestle through trouble. Can she control Jandiroba?

The Loopy Godinez fight in April gives a better picture of Suarez than any isolated average. She was caught by a right hand early, recovered, worked back into her wrestling and finished with a second-round rear-naked choke. It showed how quickly she can turn a difficult opening into a grappling finish. It also showed that she can be touched before establishing her preferred position.

Jandiroba presents a different problem. She has defended 73% of takedown attempts in her UFC sample and owns 14 career submission wins. Suarez averages 4.52 takedowns per 15 minutes, but the number that matters here is not how often she shoots: it is whether she can settle on top without giving Jandiroba space to counter or attack a submission during a transition.

Why Jandiroba should stay competitive

Jandiroba did not need a finish to beat Tabatha Ricci in April; she won a three-round unanimous decision. She has also shown she can punish a mistake on the ground, submitting Amanda Lemos with an armbar in 2024. These bouts offer two credible routes against Suarez: making close grappling exchanges count with positional work, or capitalising if Suarez leaves an opening while changing levels.

The stand-up figures favour Suarez’s strike balance, but this is unlikely to be decided by a clean comparison of punches landed per minute. If Suarez is forced to restart her takedowns repeatedly, Jandiroba has a route to winning close rounds. I favour Suarez because she has shown she can recover from trouble and still impose her wrestling; I would not assume she dominates every scramble or predict a submission method with confidence.
