Venezuela
The Venezuela national team is the only one from CONMEBOL that has never played in a World Cup. However, this qualifying campaign is going well for Venezuela. With nine points, they currently hold fifth place, and six teams qualify directly. Venezuela also won their group at the 2024 Copa América but lost to Canada in the quarterfinals on penalties.
Their previous World Cup qualifier ended in disaster, as they lost 0-4 away to Bolivia, though playing in La Paz is difficult for everyone due to the high altitude.

Uruguay
There is no doubt that Uruguay will eventually qualify for the upcoming World Cup. Marcelo Bielsa’s team is in second place, four points behind Argentina and only one point ahead of Colombia. Uruguay also performed well in the Copa América, losing to Colombia in the semifinals.
However, in their most recent match, Uruguay surprisingly drew 0-0 with Paraguay. That game marked the farewell to international football for the legendary Luis Suárez.
