Venezuela
Venezuela has lost their last nine matches in a row, but we shouldn’t forget how Fernando Batista’s team lit the stage on fire during the group stages of the Copa America last summer. Back then, “La Vinotino” claimed victory against Ecuador (2 – 1), Mexico (1 – 0), and Jamaica (3 – 0); winning all three matches. Venezuela’s quarterfinals game against Canada went to penalties, and Venezuela has not won a match since.
Their most recent game against Ecuador ended with a 2 -1 defeat, but Venezuela has shown that they can compete with some of the world’s best by holding Argentina and Brazil to 1 -1 draws. South Amercian football is highly dependent on passion and emotion and it’s something that truly defines Venezuelan athletes. Peru
Oscar Ibanez replaced Jorge Fossati as head coach of the Peru national team in February of 2025, and in his first match, managed to lead the “Incas” to their first victory. Before that, the team was poor showing in the Copa America and the World Cup qualifying rounds.
The new coach implemented a more aggressive 4-3-2-1 system which proved successful right away when strikers Andy Polo and Paolo Guerrero excelled in the contest against Bolivia. Along with increasing Peru’s likelihood of contending for seventh place, the 3-1 triumph also hindered the nation’s chief rivals battling for the playoff spots.
