Sevilla
After a disappointing season last year, Sevilla is trying to recover and return to being one of the top teams in the country. With no European competitions this season, they can focus entirely on La Liga.
In the first round, Sevilla visited Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. García Pimienta’s side led twice, but in the end, they had to settle for a draw.

Villarreal
Villarreal finished eighth last year and was notable for their poor defensive performances. During the off-season, the club sold goalkeeper Jørgensen to Chelsea and their top forward Sorloth to Atlético Madrid. Replacing these two key players will be extremely difficult.
In the first round, the “Yellow Submarine” drew with Atlético. Notably, Sorloth scored one of the two goals against his former team in Diego Conde’s debut match.
