Playing really well so far this season, Delhi Capitals are giving reigning champions Mumbai Indians a run for their money. Having strolled to success in the previous campaign, MI are having to entertain stiff competition from DC this time around.
RR giving it their best shot, they could easily have pinched something out of this fixture. However, the fantastic play of DC’s Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer left them in the lurch. Noteworthily, their middle order had a disappointing outing, failing to get going in the final overs with only 39 runs from 36 balls.
Ultimately, Iyer’s men finished with a decent score of 161 runs throughout their 20 overs. With their pacers and spinners in inspired form, DC boast a superior bowling lineup. They will be counting on Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada to make the difference come Saturday afternoon
Sam Curran’s strong start to the game aided his team’s cause as his power play yielded a massive 31 runs. Partnering wonderfully in the middle order, Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu were decent on the day but couldn’t do well with their acceleration.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni and Ravi Jadesh completed the innings on a high with 46 runs between themselves. CSK bowlers got stuck in as they prevented SRH from gaining any momentum. Karn Sharma and Dwayne Bravo managed two wickets each, but were a tad expensive.
Pant and Hetmyer out injured, their services will undoubtedly be missed. That said, CSK’s batsmen turned in a performance of the highest quality on the last matchday. However, these ones are unlikely to bring DC’s winning streak to a halt here.
